Workshop held at the Architecture Department, MIST, under the MoU between MIST and Re-WET consortium
A workshop on "Revitalizing the Land and Water Interface of Karail" was held at the Architecture Department, MIST, under the MoU between MIST and the ReWET consortium on February 4, 2025. The key instructor was Dr. Tanzil Shafique, ReWET Project Lead and Assistant Professor at the University of Sheffield, UK. Other instructors included Assoc. Prof. Md. Sazzad Hossain, Coordinator, Department of Architecture, MIST, for the ReWET Knowledge Exchange Network, Asst. Prof. Dr. Syeda Jafrina Nancy, and Lecturer Afeefa Adeeba rahman.
The Level 4 students attended the workshop, where they discussed their ongoing studio project, "Living on the Edge: Community and Nature in Harmony at Karail," and its potential for revitalizing the land and water interface. They shared insights on their survey procedures, findings, existing conditions, and conceptual proposals with the instructors.
A constructive discussion followed on aligning the project with strategies to enhance livability through land and water revitalization. The instructors provided feedback, with Dr. Shafique sharing his personal experiences, findings from the ReWET project, and perspectives on rethinking existing slum conditions using nature-based solutions.
It may be mentioed that the Department of Architecture, MIST recently signed a MoU with the ReWet Consortium for Knowledge Excange Networks (KEN).
