4th INDUSTRIAL ADVISORY PANEL (IAP) Meeting of the CSE Dept Was Held on Monday, 17 April 2023
On Monday, April 17, 2023, the INDUSTRIAL ADVISORY PANEL COMMITTEE held its fourth meeting at MIST's Central Conference Room. The session was arranged by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).
With the advancement of technologies in every field of human society, the demand for employment in the IT sector is also increasing. As a result of this highly demanding sector in the job market, MIST holds these IAP meetings annually to foster collaboration between industries and promote the development of relevant academic programs that align with the industry’s current and future needs. The discussion aimed to address how regional IT firms employ CSE students in their workforces and how MIST, as an academic institution, can support the industry by providing appropriate student training.
Brig Gen Md Mahfuzul Karim Majumder, ndc, psc, te, Head of the Department, CSE, MIST, along with senior faculty members of the CSE department, were present in the meeting.
The session was attended by Dr. Muhammad Kaykobad BRAC University and Dr. Muhammad Masroor Ali, BUET, SM Sajibul Islam, Head of HR Department of Brain Station 23 Ltd, Syed Masud Ahmed, Head of Talent and People Development of Grameenphone Ltd, Khandker Bedoura Mahbub, Head of Information Technology of Trust Bank Limited, and Ashok Kumar Roy, Director (BKIcT) of Bangladesh Computer Council, participated in the session, representing their respective organizations.
Lt Col Kazi Israt Zahan, psc, Sigs, served as the event moderator. A presentation on CSE academic activities, undergraduate syllabus overview, and CSE departmental achievements was given at the start of the session by Lecturer Raiyan Rahman of the CSE dept.
The discussion session was centered on issues such as the CSE Department's current syllabus, student participation in industrial training, projects and initiatives already aimed at industries, potential syllabus topics for students to learn about industries, and the scope and potential modes of cooperation between local IT industries and MIST to advance the skills and knowledge of undergraduate students.
The distinguished guests provided insightful opinions, advice, and guidance on a variety of topics, including the difficulties that come with working in the industry, the current state and knowledge gaps of freshers in local industries at the national level, and strategies for enhancing industry-academia collaboration in order to develop a skilled, competent, and capable workforce in Bangladesh.
The discussion session came to a successful conclusion with the hope that academia and business could work cooperatively to advance undergraduate students' skills, leadership qualities, and knowledge of business and industry to improve their opportunities after graduation and be lifelong learners of the newest advancements in computing and IT.
