Career Club

With a view to getting the students all prepared for obtaining their career destinations, MIST Career Club (MCC) works as a potential platform by engaging them in various career and self-development activities, since it’s beginning from 2017.

Through organizing numbers of grooming sessions, seminars, workshops with the presence of mentors and representatives from country’s leading corporations, MIST Career Club does not only create ample inter-personal skill nourishment opportunities, but also establish a mutual collaborative relation for a longer term, with the ultimate goal of bridging the skills gap between campus and professional life.

Motive of MCC

As the world advances each day, the word ‘Professionalism’ carries a dominant part today in work arena. Every year more than one million engineering students are graduating. But the work field of Bangladesh is becoming more saturated, making situations more competitive consequently. While opportunities can be hard to spot, thoughtful and deliberate approach may make things easy.

MIST Career Club aspires to provide opportunities to the students of MIST, to develop themselves to achieve the highest apex in their future endeavors, so that they can take a hold to their future and can take control having three insights;

•    Have the Right Mindset: Opportunities are all around us, all of the time. MCC helps them to look for their best possible ways to grab the best possible job options with proper networking and help from mentors.

•    Availing Opportunities: We need networks with people in our industry, to keep on top of the latest news and events. In this regard, MCC coordinates with top positioned resource personnel to take sessions which will guide and mentor the students. At the same time, student will get networking opportunities with them, which becomes useful for identifying trends and opportunities, and for networking with influential, well-informed people, make an effort to seek out “hidden” opportunities.

•    Identify Your Strengths and Weaknesses: MCC assists the students to identify the opportunities that are most relevant for them, and understand which skills they need to work on.

Activities of MCC
Robi Career Roadshow 
Robi Axiata Bangladesh organized Airtel YOLO Fest Q1'19 at MIST, on 31st July. Robi Career Roadshow roadshow was conducted on career opportunities at Robi Axiata Bangladesh for the potential students of MIST, in the presence of Md. Zaved Parvez, Vice President, Resourcing, HR ; Mamum B Shaheed, Vice President, EDW and Analytics, IT; Mahmuda Binte Rashid Samia, Graduate Trainee, IT; and senior officials from Robi. The session was also enlightened by the presence of MIST Alumni who are currently working with Robi. followed by a workshop on Airtel BD Apps. There were Spot Interview sessions for Internship in Robi Axiata Bangladesh.
Envision your Career: The BAT Way
British American Tobacco Bangladesh came to MIST with their career opportunities. The session was conducted by the HR team of BAT Bangladesh, which focused on career opportunities at BATB for Engineering Graduates. Students got the chance of dropping their CV at the session. The positions offered are Global Graduate & other Entry Level Roles.
Webinar on After Pandemic Job Market vs Fresh Graduates
This year, the oldest members of Gen Z will be graduating from universities. On the heels of historic jobless claims due to unprecedented spread of Covid-19, they will attempt to enter the workforce at one of the most precarious economic environments since the great recession, due to massive economic fallout. In accordance to that, MIST Career Club organized an online seminar, where Executives from pandemic and provide valuable guidelines on how fresh graduates can cope with such uncertain situations, on May 1st, International Labor Day. We invited Pramiti Saleh, Manager-Employer Brand and HR Strategy, Unilever Bangladesh Limited; Seyed Mosyeb Alam, Manager, IoT and Smart Products, Robi Axiata Limited ; Tanjila Mazumder Drishti. Senior Manager, BRAC ; Arnav Tanveer, Growth Analyst, bKash Limited.
Ptak Prize Global Case Competition 
An open Seminar was held on Ptak Prize Global Case Competition 2019 - Organised by MIST Career Club. The seminar was conducted by Ejazur Rahman, Regional CEO (Asia) at ISCEA ( International Supply Chain Education Alliance). The seminar focused on discussing career prospects of Supply Chain Management, details of Ptak Prize Case Competition 2019 and upcoming Certified Supply Chain Analyst (CSCA) program.
Battle of Minds 
A roadshow of Battle of Minds 2019, British American Tobacco’s recruitment competition, took place at MIST campus, conducted by senior HR Executives from British American Tobacco Bangladesh, who discussed with students regarding Battle of Minds with proper guidelines and Career Opportunities at BATB. An On Spot Registration Booth in front of MIST campus.
Online workshop on CV Writing Skills
During this pandemic, MIST Career Club arranged an online workshop on CV Writing Skills, conducted via zoom, where almost 100+ participants learnt basic CV Writing skills and hacks. The session was nicely conducted by Arnav Tanveer, Growth Analyst from Bkash Limited.
Excel Workshop at MIST : In Collaboration with JCI Dhaka West
Microsoft Excel has become a part and parcel for any professional individual to have Excel skills, regardless of his study or work profile. Inspired from this notion, MIST Career Club organized a workshop on the basics of MS Excel, in association with JCI Dhaka West, on 8th of August. The session was gracefully conducted by ATM Hasibul Islam, Manager, Finance & Accounts, bKash Limited.
Career Advocacy : Xperts Webinar Session
MIST Career Club will be organizing a Career Advocacy session, to ensure a relatable engagement with today's youth and help them understand precisely about the importance of having the resourceful skills and how to make impactful implementation in their Professional career. 'Higher Studies-101 : The undergrad course you never had!'
A three day comprehensive mentoring evnt on Higher studies opportunities. Day 01 covered a workshop on entire overview of higher study opportunities in different countries around the globe, regardless of CGPA and other requirements. Day 02 had a workshop for elaborate discussion on University Selection, understanding requirements, University Application processes, VISA Application Processes, Financial issues And other requirements (IELTS,TOEFL). Day 03 had a Workshop on GRE and TOEFL Test. The workshops were taken by executives from EducationUSA, EMK Centers who discussed all the details regarding higher studies.
Plaza Talks
MIST Career Club presents, 'Plaza Talks!', Season 01; an open platform for everyone from MIST to share their personal views and opinions about different aspects of life, with a very special guest who will also be sharing his experiences throughout the journey he has made, also sharing the valuable insights that will help adjust the expectations from MIST, Career and personal lives! On the occasion of Campus Hour, 'Plaza Talks!' takes place at MIST Cafeteria. So far two seasons have been organized. The first season was an absolutely chilled session with Shamim Hasan Sarkar,actor and former MIST Alumni; where the second season featured aspiring public speakers who faced off extempore speech challenge with great enthusiasm.

Volunteers all around the globe have always emerged in the most trying times of crisis. Many are risking their lives in the fight against COVID-19.
